Council Bluffs, Iowa
Red River Waste Solutions LP is pleased to announce the first delivery of a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) truck to its waste collection fleet in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Red River has provided waste and recycling collection services under contract to the City of Council Bluffs since July 1, 2008 and has a plan to have ten CNG-powered collection vehicles in its local fleet by 2016.
The City of Council Bluffs and Red River are having a public ribbon cutting on October 16th at 9:00 a.m. at the Council Bluffs Recycling Center at 4441 Gifford Rd. to unveil the CNG collection truck. We invite the community to attend.
Red River has a goal to “Go Green With CNG,” and we are reviewing all company operations to evaluate increasing our CNG fleet in the future. Our management team will review the results of the new fleet in Council Bluffs and plan for the future.
“We recognize the ability we have as an organization to improve the environmental quality in our local service areas and we are proud to be able to bring the first CNG powered garbage and recycling trucks to Council Bluffs,” said company President Weldon Smith.
Red River is very appreciative of the public/private partnership that the City and Red River has developed over the years. We would like to personally thank Mayor Walsh, the City Council and Donn Dierks for their unwavering support to bring CNG collection vehicles to Council Bluffs.
The CNG trucks will be much quieter than diesel powered trucks. Natural gas is cleaner than diesel and is produced domestically. Red River will purchase CNG from I-80 Fuels or from other local sources yet to be constructed for fueling in Council Bluffs.
Red River is a nationally recognized third generation family owned and operated company which began providing waste management services in 1953. Currently, Red River operates in eight (8) States and provides residential and commercial waste and recycling collection services.
