New Environmental Partnership

Citizens of Union City, on April 15, 2014 the Mayor and City Council unanimously awarded Red River Waste Solutions LP a five (5) year contract to provide communitywide solid waste collection services for all residential, commercial and industrial roll off customers in the incorporate boundaries of Union City. We are extremely excited about our new environmental partnership with the community and we look forward to implementing a communitywide collection service that will begin Monday, June 30 2014. The contract actually begins on Tuesday July 1, 2014, but to provide the City a full week of residential collection we have offered to begin service early at no additional cost to the community.

Each residential and commercial customer will begin receiving NEW carts and dumpsters in the coming weeks to prepare the community for the new service. Republic Service (Barker Brothers) will remove their containers and Red River will have containers replaced for your use and care. We envision a seamless transition, but we know we will experience bumps in the road ahead during this communitywide transition. We ask for your patience during the transition from a long standing service provider to Red River, we look forward to learning more about the community and the special needs of the communities’ solid waste collection needs and expectations.

Please place carts out prior to 6 AM on your collection day. We ask that you remove your cart from the street immediately after garbage collection is performed. Removing your cart after collection will reduce the chance of theft and damage of the new roll carts. Each customer is responsible for the care and protection of your new 96 gallon roll carts.

Our company firmly believes in a high level of customer service and accountability, to help us achieve these objectives we work exclusively from a work order process for quality control purposes. That being said, all customer requests are too be made with the City’s Utility department which will trigger a work order to Red River from the City to review and complete each service request in a timely manner. The work order system provides us the paper trail to make sure all service requests are documented and completed to the customer’s satisfaction.

Residential Solid Waste Collection

Each residential customer who has an active utility account will utilize 96-gallon roll carts exclusively provided by Red River. Remember, the City will continue to collect all other acceptable waste materials that do not fit into the provided roll carts. We ask that all waste placed into the roll cart be bagged and contained into the cart, this will help avoid blowing items during the collection process. Additional roll carts are available by making a request to the City for an additional monthly charge.

The new collection schedule for residential collection will now by five (5) days per week Monday through Friday. The collection schedule map is provided below for reference.

Important information to keep in mind to avoid residential service interruptions:

  • Residential solid waste collection will be provided once per week
  • Collection date and time – Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • Roll Carts must be placed curbside by 6:00 am on the designated collection day
  • Remove roll carts from City streets after collection has been provided
  • All solid waste must be in bags and placed into the roll cart
  • Roll carts must have unobstructed access
  • Place roll carts within five feet from the curb/street with handle facing the house.
